A Christmas present
Looking for good moments that happened in this past year, there’s only one related to music that, more than others, has a big emotional power that I like to inform you of.
E lucevan le stelle has recorded three new compact disks in 2005 that will be produced and released in 2006. The first one is dedicated to the repertory of XVI century for two lutes and voice (Galli, Palomba, Pavan), and the other two performed by the Cantar Lontano Ensemble, are dedicated consecutively to the sacred music of Orazio Vecchi and the wonderful book of Sacred music by Diego Ortiz.
During the first session day of this third recording, we all experienced a very touching moment while the microphones were luckily turned on. I take this opportunity now to cite myself from my tale “Liquide Perle”:
“Sometimes, when you make music, it happens that God`S hand passes near the musician”
The fact happened on the 28th of june, while we where recording in a little beautiful church in Castelbellino (Ancona). The first day of session was dedicated to the “a cappella” works and in the last part of the morning the beautiful and long “Salve Regina” was the piece programmed to be recorded. Inside the church, ready to go, we were six people, Alessandro Carmignani, Fabio Furnari, Mauro Borgioni, Marco Scavazza e Walter Testolin taken in order. From the Sacristy, the voice of our technician, Piero Schiavoni came through the talk back while my brother Paolo was supervising everything. At the end of the section of the mottetto, that, like the prayer to Mary. it ends with the words “O dulcis Virgo Maria”, we all have lived that moment of extreme suggestion, because the music suddenly took a wonderful form. The moment ended in a common embrace, like the soccer players use to do after a goal done. Maybe, listening to that magic moment extrapolated from that context and from all the material previously recorded, it will not give to you the exact emotion, but we would like, in any case, to share that moment with you; otherwise the outtake that we want offer to listen to will never be heard by anyone.
This is our little Christmas gift, hoping to please you. To listen clic here or push Play on the player.
This above mentioned Salve Regina will be the ending track of the CD dedicated to the Sacred Music of Diego Ortiz that will be published during the next year.
